AI Growth Zone
Greystoke has partnered with North Lincolnshire Council to propose the Northern Lincolnshire Artificial Intelligence Growth Zone.
-
£15bn of investment
-
1.5 GW of computing power
-
1,200 new operational jobs
-
10,000 new construction jobs
-
Significant investment in local education and training
Northern Lincolnshire AI Growth Zone (NGLAIZ) will provide 1.5 GW of AI computing power and £15bn+ of inward investment, boosting the regional and national economy and supporting UK leadership in AI.
The project will see the roll out of four AI technology campuses, each centred around a new AI data centre, by 2023. One of the data centres – Humber Tech Park – has already been granted planning permission and can provide 384 GW of computing power.
NLAIGZ will enable AI training facilities for businesses across the UK and the world, while encouraging the application of AI to local manufacturing and heavy industries.
With 20% of the UK’s electricity generated in the region – including 27% of the UK’s offshore wind capacity – energy sourcing for the project is assured. Greystoke has an accepted 1 GW grid connection.

Investment in NLAIGZ will accelerate the path to net zero for the UK’s largest industrial cluster and draw on its extensive skills base.
The project will bring nearly 10,000 new construction jobs, 1,200 new operational jobs on site and a further 4,000 industrial jobs safeguarded through supply chain opportunities.
NLGAIZ will prioritise the use of UK-made steel in its construction, by adopting the UK Steel Charter.
1,350+ hectares of land on brownfield and undeveloped industrial opportunities have already been allocated for the project, including unused land at British Steel’s plant in Scunthorpe.
NLAIGZ is supported by local councils, members of parliament, Humber Energy Board and British Steel.
