Planning permission granted for 384 MW AI data centre

Humber Tech Park, a proposed 384 MW AI training data centre near the Humber estuary, has been granted planning permission by North Lincolnshire Council.

Humber Tech Park will be one of the largest data centres in Europe and will bring as much as £3 billion to the area in foreign direct investment.

It will see North Lincolnshire become a European hub for the AI industry, and help to secure the future of Britain’s digital economy.

370 full-time operational jobs will be created, with average salaries of more than £50,000. There will be technical roles as well as support roles such as security, catering and cleaning.

The project will see significant investment in local community infrastructure, funding for sustainable transport and other community benefits.

Biodiversity will be significantly improved at the site, which will be landscaped and see new tree planting and ponds.

The site will have a low traffic profile, with construction traffic routed north from the Habrough Road site entrance onto the strategic road network (A160 and A180). Once the data centre is built, vehicle movements will be extremely low.

In the global race to support the latest digital industries, North Lincolnshire is about to make its mark.
